What are the symptoms of giant cell arteritis?

Patient's question:

I have been experiencing dizziness recently, and I can't eat properly either. My mental state isn't great either. The hospital check-up revealed a blood-related issue. Could you please tell me about the symptoms of giant cell arteritis?

Doctor's answer:

Clinical diagnostic symptoms of giant cell arteritis are divided into three stages based on different disease stages:
① Acute stage, primarily, fever, weakness, thirst, decreased appetite, muscle and joint pain, and inflammatory vascular pain.
② Subacute stage, mainly affecting the responsible blood vessels, with slow inflammatory progression, leading to symptoms such as cerebral edema, pain, numbness, and abnormal sensations.
③ Stable stage, fibrosis of the large arteries, causing vessel stenosis or impaired blood flow, primarily presenting with pain in the affected limb, abnormal sensations, prominent nighttime pain, and peripheral ischemia.
