The appreciation articles in these textbooks are not bound by a single perspective, which helps to broaden students' thinking and develop their ability for independent thinking. We hope that this series of books published by our press will bring great benefits to primary and secondary school students. The Ministry of Education has recently issued the "Full-Time Compulsory Education Chinese Curriculum Standards" and the "General High School Chinese Curriculum Standards." The new curriculum standards serve as the basis for teaching, examinations, and question-setting. Compared to the previous teaching syllabi for Chinese lessons, the new standards enhance the modern awareness of Chinese courses, actively promote new learning methods for Chinese courses, and actively reform evaluation methods, aiming to cultivate students' humanistic literacy and enable them to engage more directly with Chinese materials. One of the overall goals of the new curriculum standards is to increase the amount of extracurricular reading, enabling students to understand and appreciate classic works and outstanding poems and prose.
