What are the ways to relieve primary biliary cirrhosis?

Patient's question:

I am 38 years old and have recently felt that my liver is very tired. I haven't had much appetite, and at night, I always feel a sharp pain in my stomach. I went to a nearby hospital for a check-up and was told it's liver disease. They advised me to get injections. Could you please tell me what are the ways to relieve primary biliary cirrhosis?

Doctor's answer:

Primary biliary cirrhosis, also known as primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), is an autoimmune liver disease that primarily affects small intrahepatic bile ducts, leading to liver inflammation and ultimately progressing to cirrhosis. Ursodeoxycholic acid is currently the only drug approved for the treatment of PBC, with a recommended dosage of 13-15 mg/kg/day, administered in divided doses or as a single dose. If the disease is diagnosed and treated early, or with ursodeoxycholic acid, the majority of patients will not necessarily progress to cirrhosis. Patients receiving standard treatment and achieving satisfactory outcomes have a life expectancy and health status similar to that of healthy individuals.
