Features: Infections caused by various pathogenic organisms are common clinical diseases. Due to the rapid increase in the total population, increased mobility, accelerated population aging, the rise and accumulation of immunosuppressed individuals, frequent localized wars, natural disasters, and other factors that have deteriorated the ecological environment, humans are facing new threats from infectious diseases. Since the late 20th century, some infectious diseases that had been effectively controlled have resurged. Known pathogens continue to mutate to evade the immune system, leading to new infections. New pathogens and infectious diseases have continuously emerged. The extensive use and misuse of antibiotics have made bacterial resistance a global issue. The diagnosis of infectious diseases, in addition to clinical manifestations, primarily relies on etiological diagnosis. With scientific advancement, our understanding of pathogens and disease processes has deepened. Laboratories are providing increasingly more data and information. How to effectively utilize diagnostic information for etiological diagnosis is a shared responsibility of clinical physicians and laboratory technicians. We have organized professionals in infectious diseases and clinical microbiology to write relevant content. By organically combining clinical features with the objectives, requirements, and significance of laboratory tests, this book helps clinical physicians understand the diagnostic process and the information it encompasses, improving the utilization of diagnostic resources. It also provides technical personnel involved in diagnostic testing with guidance on how to closely collaborate with clinicians for etiological diagnosis. The book is divided into nine chapters. Chapter 1 introduces the basic process of clinical diagnosis of infectious diseases. Chapter 2 covers the requirements and diagnostic process of laboratory testing. Chapters 3 and 4. Chapters 5, 6, and 7、、. Chapters 8 and 9 introduce parasitic and protozoan infections.
