Features: In recent years, the question formats of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) listening section have evolved from simple to complex, from general to specific, and from broad comprehension to detailed analysis. The number of words beyond the exam criteria, especially those involving repetition, has increased. Questions requiring comprehension and accurate recall of detailed statements have become more frequent. The selection of questions has become more similar, the differentiation of diagrams has decreased, and the difficulty of judgment has increased. Currently, some candidates who have studied Japanese for three or four years in professional settings score only an average of 50-60 on the Level 1 listening exam, while general non-professional test-takers perform even worse. Clearly, the listening exam has become a major challenge for candidates. This book is published to address this challenge. Based on the authentic test questions from 1990 to 1999, the book categorizes them and conducts statistical analyses of frequently tested vocabulary, common spoken expressions, sound changes, abbreviations, ambiguous statements, and various question types that have appeared in past exams. According to these statistical analyses and the actual (question-setting) practices, the book is organized into four parts: Listening Foundation Exercises, Diagram-Based Listening Comprehension, Diagram-Free Listening Comprehension, and Listening Comprehension Audio Answers. The Listening Foundation section includes 5 basic exercises and 3 listening techniques. Readers can skip familiar chapters or repeat challenging sections based on their actual proficiency. In addition to exercises, the Diagram-Based and Diagram-Free Listening Comprehension sections also provide commonly used vocabulary, sentence patterns, and relevant knowledge before and after each category to truly enhance listening comprehension skills.
