First child ABO hemolytic disease, what about the second child?

Patient's question:

I have been experiencing dizziness recently, and I can't seem to eat properly either. My mental state isn't great either. When I went to the hospital for a check-up, they said it's a blood-related issue. Could you please tell me if there's a risk of ABO hemolysis with the second child?

Doctor's answer:

The first pregnancy again experienced ABO blood group hemolysis. If you are pregnant with the second child, there is a possibility of hemolysis, which would require monitoring data during pregnancy. Once the possibility of hemolysis is detected, medication should be administered during pregnancy to effectively prevent the recurrence of neonatal hemolysis. You don't need to worry too much, as even if ABO blood group hemolysis occurs again, the symptoms are mostly mild, and in most cases, the child can recover completely by undergoing blue light treatment.
