Zhao Zhenghui, a college student who dropped out due to poverty and his mother's illness, travels south to Shenchuan City to work after incurring debts from his mother's hospital treatment. Limited by his field of study, he struggles to find a job and is forced to become the male nanny and Chinese tutor for Sun Suqin, a Singaporean returnee investor.
At the age of 14, Sun Suqin had an illicit affair with a married man, Duan Zaidong, and gave birth to an illegitimate son, Bo'er. Due to public pressure and other reasons, the mother and son were separated, and the lovers were kept apart. After several twists and turns, Sun Suqin ended up in Singapore as the concubine of the wealthy businessman Jiang Hesian. In her 23rd year, feeling a deep longing for her son, she returns to the mainland to invest in and run a business, hoping to find her biological child. Unbeknownst to her, Zhao Zhenghui, who is actually her son, joins her household as a servant. Zhao's appearance is strikingly similar to that of her former lover. To verify and identify whether Zhao is her biological son, she embarks on a series of touching and stories.
