How is central retinitis treated?

Patient's question:

Next door to my house lives a grandmother. She is very kind and always takes good care of our family. Whenever she makes something delicious, she always shares some with us. However, the grandmother suffers from central retinal vein occlusion, and now she is having a recurrence. How should central retinal vein occlusion be treated?

Doctor's answer:

If left untreated, this disease may disappear (approximately three to six months, or even a year), but symptom relief is very slow. Laser treatment, however, yields quick results. The laser fuses the inflamed points, absorbing the subretinal fluid and allowing the retina to. The course of the disease can be prolonged to 2 weeks. In some cases, oral medication is also effective, with the course lasting about one to three months. Preventive measures include avoiding staying up late and reducing work stress. Although the disease can disappear on its own, some cases (about one-third) frequently occur for unknown reasons.
