Patient's question:
The doctor is 50 years old this year. Sometimes I get short of breath during physical exertion, or suddenly get short of breath while taking a nap in the evening. I want to know if this could be dilated cardiomyopathy? What are the symptoms of dilated cardiomyopathy?Doctor's answer:
Dilated cardiomyopathy is generally secondary to diffuse myocardial lesions. If a patient has a history of acute myocarditis and experiences symptoms such as chest tightness or discomfort again, there should be consideration of the possibility of dilated myocarditis. If there is no similar history, the likelihood of coronary heart disease is higher. It is generally recommended that patients undergo electrocardiogram (ECG) examination, echocardiography, and coronary CT scan to aid in diagnosis.
