How is lung infection treated when it is caused by intracerebral hemorrhage?

Patient's question:

Recently, I've been experiencing chest pain and tightness in my chest. The hospital examination indicated a respiratory disease, but the medication hasn't been very effective. Recently, my cough has worsened. How should I treat lung infection caused by cerebral hemorrhage?

Doctor's answer:

Patients with intracerebral hemorrhage often experience recurrent aspiration pneumonia due to frequent retching during the onset of the condition. Moreover, after a stroke, patients tend to have impaired consciousness and weakened cough reflexes, which can slow down pulmonary infection. The treatment of pulmonary infection involves both nursing care and medication.
In terms of nursing care, it primarily includes frequent sputum suctioning, regular (turning and patting the back), and maintaining a seated position. However, efforts must be made to prevent the recurrence of pressure ulcers. A high-protein diet is recommended to enhance nutrition and strengthen the immune system.
Regarding medication, a bacterial culture of the sputum is necessary to select sensitive antibiotics for anti-inflammatory treatment. At the same time, cooling blood and anti-asthmatic medications should be administered, including inhalation therapy. For severely infected patients, tracheostomy may even be required.
