Features: Tang Yin is one of the most distinctive and unique artists among the Four Masters of the Ming Dynasty. Although he excelled in landscape, figure, and flower-and-blossom painting, as well as poetry and calligraphy, his greatest achievement remains his unparalleled water paintings of all time. This book analyzes eight of Tang Yin's paintings, including those that clearly inherit the style of Li Tang, such as Qianshang Qingyin Tu (Clear Rhyme on the Gorge), as well as those belonging to the Southern School, such as Chunshan (Companion in Spring Mountains); there are also those that showcase his unique style in his middle years, like Qiluzhuigusi Tu (Riding a Donkey Back to Thoughts), and those that demonstrate his late-life transformation in style, with bold and unrestrained brushwork, such as Shanluoshengsheng Tu (Sound of Pines on the Mountain Path); as for Gao Shanqishu Tu (High Mountains with Strange Trees) and Xueshanxinglvtu (Travelers in Snowy Mountains), although detailed, they are graceful and flowing, almost executed in one breath, with the speed of completion. Luoxia Gudu Tu (Solitary Duck Amidst Setting Sun) depicts the poetic essence of Tengshui Pavilion, also a masterful work showcasing Tang Yin's classic style; Fengtian Xingdutu (A Bull Herding in Fen Fields) presents a close-up portrayal of the story of Li Mi from the Tang Dynasty, combining both Northern and Southern techniques, with a unique style. These eight paintings are accompanied by step-by-step illustrations and textual explanations, with some completed in one go, while others are divided into two, three, or four stages, allowing readers to understand the key phases of a painting from the first stroke to the final completion. Of course, this is just the author's personal interpretation and is for reference only.
