After 1994, this work was temporarily suspended. In the 21st century, essay writing remains vibrant and diverse, becoming a bright landscape in the literary garden. To promptly summarize the achievements of annual essay creation and introduce outstanding essay works to readers, thereby contributing to the literary heritage of the new century, People's Literature Publishing House has decided to resume the compilation and publication of annual essays. The revived annual essay selections will be titled "21st Century Annual Essays Selections," with one volume compiled each year. The compilation scope includes essay works published in newspapers and magazines across the country in the same year, and the selected essays are arranged in the order of their publication time. This initiative has received support and assistance from many renowned literary critics and editors, who have also provided valuable compilation suggestions. Based on extensive reading and fully considering expert opinions, People's Literature Publishing House strictly selects the essays. People's Literature Publishing House hopes that readers will not only gain an overall understanding of the year's essay creation but also enjoy and read the outstanding essays that emerged during this time through this selection.
