Features: After the publication of Lu Xun and Zhou Zuoren, Sun Yu continued his research on the pioneers of new literature and culture, using Lu Xun as a reference to expand his field. Now, Lu Xun, Zhou Zuoren, Hu Shi, and Chen Duxiu have all been studied. He further expanded his scope to the figures in the Ku Yu Zhai, achieving remarkable results. With the field now expanded, his understanding of "humanity" deepened. He then delved deeper into the inner world of "humanity," exploring their temperament and character, investigating the distinct qualities of Lu Xun and Zhou Zuoren. For this new edition, new research findings have been added. It is not "cooking cold rice." The editor-in-chief hoped to retain my original preface with some modifications. I think it is better to keep the original text as it is. This is also part of "history," and carrying the traces of the "past" is acceptable: no need for regret, just a little remorse is sufficient. Therefore, after rereading the old preface, I added a few sentences to serve as the new preface. Additionally, because the original preface was published in the book, I don’t know what consideration the original editor-in-chief had in deleting a section of it, which was my mild critique of Sun Yu’s use of a new linguistic expression. Although it has now become his style, I still wish to retain this critique.
