What is the reason for swollen lymph nodes while taking tuberculosis medication?

Patient's question:

During my treatment for lymph node tuberculosis, other lymph nodes still swell up. What's going on? Shouldn't they disappear after taking the medication? Some of mine have gone down, but others still swell. I've been taking the medicine for two or three days now, so I wanted to ask if I need to go to the hospital to switch to a different medication?

Doctor's answer:

Lymphatic tuberculosis does not necessarily improve after medication. Sometimes, the lymph nodes on one side may become larger, while other areas or surrounding lymph nodes may again show signs of reduction and inflammation. It is still necessary to focus and persist in antitubercular treatment. If the lymph nodes become significantly larger again, surgical removal may be required. If inflammation reoccurs, debridement and dressing changes must be treated without delay. At the same time, it is essential to continue antitubercular treatment consistently, and in certain cases, enhanced antitubercular treatment may be necessary!
