Features: This journal has won the National Journal Award for three consecutive years. This collection is a premium selection that essentially represents the newest creative standards of Chinese short and medium-length fiction in mainland China in 2006. It covers a broader and more diverse range of social fields, presents more profound and incisive themes, features more unique and engaging plots, and portrays more vivid and lifelike characters. The book adheres to the established editorial format, consisting of two major sections: short stories and medium-length stories. Each work is arranged in the order it was published in the journal, with recent photos and brief biographies of the authors preceding each story. The stories pay greater attention to social realities, care about the fate of the people, show concern for the warmth of life, and care for the world of the soul, further highlighting the responsibility and conscience of the writers. As Mr. Ba Jin, the honorary consultant of the journal, said, "Why do people need literature? They need it to clean the garbage from our hearts, to bring them hope, courage, and strength, and to show us more light." This year's collection includes both heartfelt new works from established middle-aged and elderly writers who have long been acclaimed in the literary world, as well as carefully crafted efforts from emerging young writers who have risen to prominence since the 21st century.
