Is palpitations a sign of myocarditis?

Patient's question:

Doctor, I've been experiencing sudden palpitations these past couple of days, and I get dizzy and lightheaded after working for a while. I also feel weak, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. I'm worried that my heart might have another problem again. I'd like to understand if the sudden recurrence of palpitations could be myocarditis? Can an ECG thoroughly check if there's any issue with my heart?

Doctor's answer:

Answer: If this situation occurs again, it is generally not considered myocarditis, as myocarditis often has preceding symptoms of viral infection. An electrocardiogram can help infer the electrical activity of the heart at that time. If you don't feel any discomfort during the test, you may not be able to perceive any abnormalities. Currently, if these symptoms are indeed affecting your health, it is recommended to promptly undergo a detailed echocardiogram and a 24-hour Holter monitoring. These tests can observe the shape of the heart and the changes in its electrical activity over 24 hours.
