Features: East Palace, West Palace tells the story of male homosexuality. It lacks a strong erotic atmosphere, with the entire story composed of night scenes, dialogues, and some stream-of-consciousness flashbacks and fantasy shots. There are only two men: a homosexual writer, A Lan, and a handsome police officer, Xiao Shi. Xiao Shi brings the "rascal" A Lan back to the police station for interrogation, letting A Lan narrate his strange life with a mix of curiosity and disdain. As the night passes, A Lan completely unleashes Xiao Shi's latent homosexual tendencies through language, as if opening a magic bottle. In the morning light, Xiao Shi feels a mix of excitement and fear, as if he had been reborn.
