Hepatic cyst ultrasound findings

Patient's question:

My wife has been feeling unwell recently, so I took her to the hospital. The doctor said she needed an ultrasound. After the results came back, it was found to be a liver cyst. However, neither of us knows how to read the ultrasound images. We thought that if we could understand them ourselves, it would be convenient for future treatment. I want to know what a liver cyst looks like on an ultrasound.

Doctor's answer:

Hepatic cysts are a relatively common benign inflammatory condition of the liver. Due to their different density compared to normal liver tissue, they can effectively assist doctors in making a diagnosis. Smaller cysts may not require treatment, and patients only need to undergo periodic follow-up examinations. It is important to monitor any changes in cyst size and record the numerical values. If the cyst grows rapidly, surgical treatment may be considered.
