What to do about neonatal dehydration heat?

Patient's question:

Friend has just experienced the joy of becoming a father, but the newborn doesn't know what's going on and has repeatedly had dehydration fever. It has already started to be tense, but luckily, after the doctor's treatment, everything is fine, and the child is healthy again. What is the cause of dehydration fever in newborns?

Doctor's answer:

Neonatal dehydration heat generally occurs again after the newborn returns to the maternal environment that supplies nutrition and water, and is common in cases where the body's own decomposition metabolism consumes too quickly, leading to excessive water loss and insufficient water absorption, or where water absorption is lower than water loss, resulting in dehydration. This can cause central hyperthermia, leading to fever. It often occurs 2-4 days after birth, accompanied by restlessness and crying. There are no contagious or toxic symptoms, and the body temperature can suddenly drop, while weight may increase. The fontanelle may be slightly sunken, the skin and mucous membranes are dry with poor elasticity, and urine output is reduced. Physical examination and laboratory tests reveal no other diseases. The main treatment involves providing the baby with sufficient fluids.
