Patient's question:
Recently, I've been feeling weak in the waist and knees, with no energy at all. I can't seem to get motivated to do anything, and it feels like I'm in constant pain. I've been feeling drowsy all day. When I went to the hospital for a thorough check-up, they said I have interstitial nephritis, but I don't know what caused it. What exactly is interstitial nephritis?Doctor's answer:
Interstitial nephritis is a clinical pathological syndrome caused by various different reasons leading to acute or chronic tubulointerstitial kidney damage. The first step in treating interstitial nephritis is to completely remove the cause, control infection, promptly stop allergenic drugs, and treat the primary disease. Correcting renal anemia, electrolyte, acid-base, and volume imbalances, as well as serum creatinine significantly decreasing or splitting hyperkalemia, heart failure, pulmonary edema, and other indications for blood purification, clinical diagnosis should be promptly implemented with blood purification treatment. Acute interstitial nephritis can be treated with continuous blood purification treatment. If conditions permit, kidney transplantation is feasible for patients in the uremic stage.
