Can long-term low blood pressure cause sudden death?

Patient's question:

When I was having tutoring with my classmate, I fainted and was sent to the hospital. It was low blood pressure. He said it's always like this and it's not a big problem. Could sudden death occur due to long-term low blood pressure?

Doctor's answer:

If blood pressure is higher than 90/60, it is considered low blood pressure. If the blood pressure is slightly lower without any discomfort symptoms, it doesn't need to be addressed. Of course, if low blood pressure is caused by other organic diseases, such as hemorrhagic or cardiogenic causes, it may be life-threatening. First, the cause of the blood pressure needs to be identified. If there is a clear organic disease, active symptomatic treatment should be taken. If there is no other medical history and the blood pressure is only slightly lower, special measures are not necessary. Regular appropriate exercise to enhance physical fitness is sufficient.
