Patient's question:
I recently feel unwell and went to the hospital for a thorough examination. The diagnosis was that I have impaired liver and kidney function. I want to consult what impaired liver and kidney function means?Doctor's answer:
Hepatic insufficiency refers to the recurrence of symptoms such as abnormal liver function, jaundice, and loss of appetite in patients. If the condition progresses to cirrhosis, clinical manifestations such as ascites may occur. Renal insufficiency is caused by various different factors. Severe damage to the glomeruli leads to a clinical syndrome involving the body's metabolism of waste products, regulation of water and electrolyte balance, and acid-base balance. Renal insufficiency can be divided into four stages: Stage 1 of renal insufficiency (compensatory stage), with serum creatinine levels of 133–177 μmol/L; Stage 2 of renal insufficiency (decompensatory stage, uremic stage), with serum creatinine levels of 177–451 μmol/L; Stage 3 of renal insufficiency (decreased function stage).
