How to determine the severity of anemia?

Patient's question:

Now it's been several years since the divorce, and I've been trying to conceive. Recently, I've been feeling a bit dizzy and my complexion is pale. The doctor said I have anemia. How can you check the severity of the anemia?

Doctor's answer:

Girls suffering from anemia face many risks, and it can easily lead to adverse effects on early pregnancy in the future. Anemia can be classified into mild, moderate, severe, and extremely severe stages. For women, a hemoglobin level above 90 is considered mild anemia. A hemoglobin level between 90 and 60 is moderate anemia, between 60 and 30 is severe anemia, and below 30 is extremely severe. It is recommended to have a thorough blood test at the hospital to determine the cause of the anemia—whether it is iron-deficiency anemia, megaloblastic anemia, or other causes. Treatment methods vary depending on the cause of the anemia, and doctors will provide symptomatic treatment. For iron-deficiency anemia, appropriate iron supplementation can be administered. For megaloblastic anemia, folic acid and vitamin B12 can be consumed. Eating more fresh vegetables and fruits rich in vitamin C helps in the absorption of iron in food.
