Can epilepsy be cured?

Patient's question:

I have been suffering from epilepsy for 3 years. Here, I am tormented every day. I have been searching for doctors everywhere, seeking treatment everywhere. I don't know if my illness can be cured, but I keep trying. I want to know if epilepsy can be cured.

Doctor's answer:

Epilepsy is a common disease, and the vast majority of patients need to take antiepileptic drugs for a long time. Due to the continuous enhancement of available antiepileptic drugs, many new antiepileptic drugs have been used in clinical diagnosis, and many are still in clinical trial stages. For each epilepsy patient, determining the ideal antiepileptic drug depends on numerous factors, such as pharmacological properties, types of epileptic seizures, medical conditions, socioeconomic status, and others. The most ideal antiepileptic drug is one that can control epileptic seizures without causing difficult-to-understand side effects. Achieving this result should be the highest goal in treating every epilepsy patient.
