Epileptic patients cannot drive alone?

Patient's question:

I have epilepsy, which I have had since childhood. Every time I have a seizure, I experience symptoms such as loss of consciousness, stiffness in my limbs, rolling eyes, and the inability to speak. However, after I became an adult, it took a long time for me to have a seizure again, and my condition has been relatively stable. I went to a driving school to learn how to drive, but they refused to accept me, saying that epilepsy patients cannot drive motor vehicles alone, especially someone with primary epilepsy like me.

Doctor's answer:

Because it is dangerous. The recurrence reasons and timing of primary epilepsy patients are not necessarily regular. It may occur while traveling in a vehicle. If this happens again, it may endanger the safety of oneself and others. It is still recommended to strictly abide by national laws and regulations and take full responsibility for the lives of oneself and others. I wish you a speedy and complete recovery. In fact, having primary epilepsy is not scary. Patients should believe that they can overcome the disease. As long as timely treatment is provided in the early stages, the chances of controlling the condition and recovering are very high.
