Features: "Yishu's New Classics" is vastly different from her previous works. The story content remains the same—unchanging love, which Yishu always portrays in a way that deeply moves readers. However, the characters in Yishu's stories are no longer the romantic and idealistic figures they once were, becoming increasingly realistic. It is evident that while Yishu writes about fantastical love in the city, her portrayal is so realistic that it feels cruel. In the romance master Yishu's novel "Scissors Act as a Matchmaker for Needles," the opening tells a story passed down from her grandmother: when doing needlework, if a needle is accidentally lost and there is a fear of pricking someone, one can pick up a pair of scissors, tap them on the table while saying, "Needle, needle, scissors act as a matchmaker for you," and the needle will magically stick to the scissors and reappear. Of course, in reality, the needle will quickly reappear because most of the points on the scissors' tip are attached with magnets. However, the connection between needlework and a happy family is portrayed so charmingly in this old wives' tale that no one would mind its lack of scientific basis.
