Zoophilia
Zoophilia refers to deriving sexual gratification from corpses. In many literary or academic works, the obsessive sexual attachment to deceased partners and the sadistic sexual abuse of corpses are also categorized as zoophilia. Strictly speaking, zoophilia is primarily observed in males, who are often referred to as necrophiliacs or corpse-rapists. These individuals have an intense desire to engage in sexual acts with corpses. Sometimes, this desire can be satisfied through the fantasy of having sex with a corpse; other times, it can only be fulfilled through actual sexual contact with a corpse. Some necrophiliacs derive pleasure from preserving certain organs of the deceased, typically female breasts or reproductive organs. Because some necrophiliacs kill their victims to gain the opportunity for necrophilia, this behavior poses a significant threat to society. The causes of necrophilia are unclear. Most researchers believe that these individuals have a strong desire to dominate their sexual partners, and the fulfillment of this desire plays a crucial role in their sexual satisfaction. Corpses never resist their commands, so they prefer them as sexual objects. For those who pretend to be corpses, they demand that the other party remain motionless; if the body moves, they feel as though their authority is being challenged, leading to a loss of sexual desire and ability. The nature of such individuals may be timid, and they may be failures in social life, repeatedly encountering setbacks. Unable to control the world of the living, they turn to the world of the dead, where they appear as powerful rulers. In the presence of corpses, they are dominant, and the corpses obey their commands without resistance or mockery. In summary, they are in a position of dominance in this behavior and need not worry about failure or frustration. Necrophiliacs often exhibit obvious mental illnesses or olfactory disorders. Necrophiliacs can be categorized into several types: non-homicidal necrophiliacs, homicidal necrophiliacs, pseudo-necrophiliacs, fantasy necrophiliacs, and obsessive necrophiliacs.
Non-homicidal necrophiliacs are the most common type of necrophiliac. These individuals do not kill but take advantage of various opportunities to have sex with deceased people. Certain occupations that provide access to corpses, such as those in mortuaries, morgues, and funeral homes, are highly attractive to them. A case report from China describes a 17-year-old male farmer who, over three years, dug graves seven times to engage in necrophilia. The victims' corpses had been dead for up to 35 days and were already decomposed. Each time the individual experienced the urge to necrophilia, he could not control himself. He could achieve ejaculation during the act and felt sexual satisfaction.
Homicidal necrophiliacs are the most dangerous type of necrophiliac. The primary purpose of these criminals in killing their victims is to have sex with the corpses, including vaginal and anal intercourse. Therefore, the victims can be either female or male, with females being more commonly targeted. A single homicidal necrophiliac can harm multiple individuals, even dozens of them.
Pseudo-necrophiliacs do not actually have sex with corpses but instead have sex with living individuals who pretend to be dead. This situation can also occur in normal marital life but is rarely known. A case report describes a pseudo-necrophiliac...
