How to Care for Hypertensive Emergencies

Patient's question:

Nursing care for hypertensive emergencies?

Doctor's answer:

Hypertensive emergency refers to a significant increase in blood pressure accompanied by target organ damage, requiring continuous blood pressure monitoring and prompt intravenous administration of appropriate antihypertensive drugs for treatment. When hypertensive patients experience an episode, they may also suffer from cerebrovascular accidents. In addition to headache and vomiting, they may even experience loss of consciousness or limb paralysis. In such cases, the patient should be placed in a supine position with the head turned to one side to prevent aspiration of vomit into the airway during loss of consciousness or severe vomiting. Then, the emergency medical services should be notified.
