Is newborn jaundice level 92 normal?

Patient's question:

My young niece was born a month ago and has a bit of jaundice. The elders say it's nothing and it will go down in a few days. But now she's already a full month old and it's still the same. I took her to the hospital for a thorough check-up, and it showed 9. Is this within the normal range?

Doctor's answer:

Children born in this month with jaundice should have it completely resolved. Specific measurements are generally normal if they are below 5. If jaundice still persists, specific tests are needed to verify the cause. In most cases, oral jaundice-reducing medications such as Yin Chen Granules can be administered. If liver enzymes are elevated and/or abnormal intrauterine viral tests are present, and the baby's condition is poor, hospitalization treatment may be necessary. Wishing the patient a speedy recovery and good health!
