1. This book is a punctuation edition of four classic Chinese medical works: Suwen and Lingshu of Huangdi Neijing, Qian Ni Yuan Jing, Shanghan Lun, and Jin Gui Yao Lue Fang Lun.
2. The selected base texts are all recognized as authoritative by the academic community. Suwen of Huangdi Neijing uses the Ming Jiajing 29th-year Wuling Gu Congde shadow Song edition; Lingshu of Huangdi Neijing is the Ming Jiajing Zhao Kang Wang Zhu Houyu Jujing Tang edition; Jin Gui Yao Lue Fang Lun is the Ming Wanli Zhao Kaimei edition; Shanghan Lun adopts the Ming Jiajing 24th-year Wang Jichuan edition of the Zhujie Shanghan Lun by Cheng Ji, abbreviated as Cheng Zuo edition; and Nanjing uses the earliest annotated edition, Wang Jiushi’s Jizhu Huangdi Qian Ni Yuan Jing, from the Japanese cultural year Zhuoying Tang re-edition. The two annotated editions have had their annotations removed, leaving only the original text.
3. Reference texts include other influential editions, such as the Jin-carved edition, Jin Huo Wu Tie edition, Zhao Fu Jujing Tang edition, Ming manuscript edition, and Shoushan Pavilion edition for Suwen; and Hu’s Gulin Bookroom edition and Japanese edition for Lingshu. Additionally, references were made to Zhenjiu Jia Yi Jing, Mai Jing, Biejijinqian Yao Fang, Qianjin Yi Fang, Wai Tai Mi Yao, Huangdi Neijing Tai Su, Nanjing Shu Zheng, and Guben Nanjing Chanzhu among other ancient classics. Modern scholars’ works such as Gu Aichun’s Huangdi Neijing Suwen Jiaozhu Yushi, Liu Hengru’s Lingshu Jiaokan Ben, and the Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine’s Jin Gui Yao Lue Yushi were also consulted.
