Can someone with severe diabetes still go to jail?

Patient's question:

My friend's father is 38 years old this year and suffers from severe diabetes. Because he committed many things outside recently, my friend is very worried. Hello, can someone with severe diabetes go to jail?

Doctor's answer:

Prisons should implement physical examinations for inmates who are to be returned to serve their sentences. Upon review, if a convicted criminal sentenced to the death penalty, life imprisonment, or fixed-term imprisonment meets any of the following conditions, they may be temporarily released outside prison: suffering from a serious illness that requires bail and medical treatment, in which case the People's Court shall decide on the temporary release outside prison. If temporary release outside prison poses a social risk, it should be revoked and the inmate should be returned to prison. The inmates temporarily released outside prison shall be managed by the public security organs of their place of residence. If the inmates listed in the preceding paragraph are released from prison before completing their sentences, the public security organs shall send the inmates who have not yet been sentenced to prison to serve their sentences.
