How to regulate borderline hypertension

Patient's question:

My friend has always had high blood pressure and hasn't felt much physically, but recently they started experiencing a constant headache accompanied by dizziness. The family suggested taking my friend to a nearby hospital for a thorough check-up. The doctor prescribed many medications, which my friend has been taking for some time now, but it doesn't seem to be working effectively. What should be done about borderline high blood pressure?

Doctor's answer:

Hypertension refers to a systemic disease characterized by organ remodeling, where arterial systolic and/or diastolic pressure is elevated (>=140/90mmHg) in a resting state, often accompanied by disturbances in fat and sugar metabolism, as well as functional or organic changes in organs such as the heart, brain, kidneys, and retina. It can be diagnosed as hypertension if the blood pressure is >=140/90mmHg after resting for more than 5 minutes, measured on two or more occasions on different days. Although primary hypertension cannot be cured, it can be effectively controlled.
