Features: The Guifang, Dingling, Gaoche, and Tiele in the history of China from the Shang-Zhou to the Sui-Tang dynasties were designations of the same ethnic group in different historical periods. This book begins with Guifang and ends with the eve of the establishment of the Uyghur Khanate in 744 AD, divided into three parts (The Dingling Chapter, The Gaoche Chapter, The Tiele Chapter) and fourteen chapters, narrating the history of this ethnic group over approximately two thousand years. Academia generally agrees that Dingling, Gaoche, and Tiele are the ancestors of today's Uyghur people, and the history of Dingling, Gaoche, and Tiele is an important part of the ancient history of today's Uyghur people. Based on historical records, archaeological materials, and references to previous research, this book proves that Guifang is the ethnic origin of Dingling. By compiling the history of Guifang, Dingling, Gaoche, and Tiele into one book, it clarifies their origins and historical development, revealing the full picture of the ancient history of the Uyghur people. This is not only an intriguing academic issue but also holds practical significance. This book references and incorporates the research findings of the aforementioned scholars. Special gratitude is expressed here to the late Turkic historian Cen Zhongmian for his contributions. Cen Zhongmian was a highly knowledgeable scholar with an extensive body of works. He not only conducted in-depth research on the history of Turkic and Tang Turkic dynasties but also carried out unique and grand-scale collation and annotations on Turkic and Tiele historical records and inscriptions, elevating the study of China's Turkic and Tiele history to a new level. Although this book may not fully agree with Cen Zhongmian's views on many issues, the writing of the lower part, "The Tiele Chapter," has drawn significantly from his research findings.
