Is fatty liver cirrhosis treatable?

Patient's question:

Hello doctor, I often attend banquets after work, smoke and drink beer excessively every day, and haven't paid attention to the slight discomfort in my body. Now I'm at the hospital for a thorough physical check-up. The doctor said I have developed fatty liver and that I'm too careless. It's said that mild fatty liver doesn't require treatment and can be adjusted by controlling diet. I don't know if fatty liver can expand into cirrhosis or other diseases.

Doctor's answer:

Fatty liver in its early stages does not require special treatment; it is sufficient to pay attention to diet and strengthen exercise to promote recovery. If it is moderate to severe or not treated properly, it may further expand, leading to serious damage to liver function and even the recurrence of conditions like cirrhosis. Therefore, it is very necessary to start treatment and prevention work.
The clinical manifestations of fatty liver are diverse. Mild fatty liver may only cause fatigue, while most patients with fatty liver are overweight, making it harder to notice mild subjective symptoms. Moderate to severe fatty liver may present similar symptoms to chronic hepatitis, such as poor appetite, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and dull pain in the liver area or upper right abdomen.
Many patients with fatty liver have no subjective symptoms, or only mild fatigue, poor appetite, abdominal pain, belching, or a sense of fullness in the liver area.
