Features: In the Qing Dynasty, Liaoning was not only the political and economic center of Northeast China but also a place where various ethnic cultures converged and blended, and the birthplace of modern education in Dongbei. As a result, it exhibited distinct characteristics in architecture, culture, folklore, and religion. It possessed both Dongbei characteristics and the unique traits of Han, Manchu, Mongolian, and other ethnic groups, reflecting the local customs and traditions, forming a colorful historical tapestry.
After the Second Opium War, Yingkou was opened as a port, and Liaoning's gateway was opened. During the Russo-Japanese War, the invasion and plunder of the Liaodong Peninsula by Japan and Russia further added to the historical vicissitudes of Liaoning. This pictorial collection, combining the unique regional features of Qing Dynasty Liaoning, is divided into six sections: "Three Capitals Beyond the Great Wall," "Establishment of Shengjing," "Three Tombs of Shengjing," "War Relics," "Cultural Education," and "Religious Beliefs." It reflects the historical landscape of the regions under Qing Dynasty Liaoning from different perspectives.
Additionally, based on the characteristics of the Qing Dynasty image collection in the archives, two sections—"Etiquette and Customs" and "Mount Chengyu and the Eight Outer Temples"—are included to typify and concentrate on the customs and traditions of the Qing Dynasty, as well as the historical landscape of specific regions. To enhance the historical and scientific authenticity of the images, each picture is accompanied by a brief textual annotation, along with essential details such as the source, date, and author.
Each section is organized with geography and historical facts as the vertical axis and time as the horizontal axis, making it a richly illustrated historical atlas of the Qing Dynasty.
