Patient's question:
Recently, I don't know why I've been feeling discomfort in my heart. Although I often take medication to control it, the effect is not obvious. When I went to the hospital for a check-up, they also prescribed medication. How can pulmonary hypertension be treated?Doctor's answer:
The treatment principles for different types of PAH vary. Correctly identifying the related diseases causing PAH and actively treating them are the primary measures for managing disease-related PAH. For example: in PAH associated with connective tissue diseases, corticosteroids and immunosuppressants should be used first; in PAH caused by drugs or toxins, the first step should be to stop using the drug or avoiding exposure to the toxin. For PAH that directly affects pulmonary vascular function or structure, treatment primarily focuses on correcting or reversing pulmonary vascular changes. Currently available drugs in China include: prostacyclin (e.g., iloprost); endothelin-1 receptor antagonists (e.g., bosentan, ambrisentan); phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil, tadalafil). For severe PAH, interventional or surgical treatment may be considered.
