Features: Given the current state where research on film rhythm is far weaker compared to other film theoretical issues, and yet the study of film rhythm is an urgent task for both film creators and theorists, this book addresses this gap by explaining to readers how to grasp film rhythm. Focusing on film, it points out that film rhythm has two fundamental bases: 1. Film rhythm must align with the physiological and psychological mechanisms of the audience; 2. The emotional rhythm of characters is the root of film rhythm. Both departments of film must adhere to these two fundamental bases (as discussed in the third lecture). After these three lectures, we will categorize and discuss the rhythm issues of each department of film: Film Writing, Film Photography, Film Art, Film Sound, Film Performance, Film Editing, and Film Director and Rhythm (from the fourth to the tenth lecture). The reason we arrange Performance, Editing, and Director as the last topics is that they play a more significant role in completing the rhythm of the film.
