Features: Wang Ping was the first female film director in New China, a renowned film artist in our country, and her life was full of legends. As her daughter, the author of this book records her glorious life from her own perspective: In her early years, she joined the progressive student cultural organization in Nanjing. In 1934, she became the only revolutionary woman in the Nanjing branch of the Left-Wing Drama League. In the 1940s, she was sent by the Party to travel to places like Hong Kong, Guilin, and Chongqing to carry out anti-war propaganda. Later, she stayed in Shanghai, continuing her cultural work while engaging in secret work for the New Fourth Army and connecting with and uniting a group of progressive cultural workers. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Wang Ping participated in the establishment of the Changchun Film Studio. She became the first female film director in New China for directing the military educational film River Attack. In 1957, her film The Story of Willow Creek, with its delicate, moving, and lyrical artistic style, produced a great social impact. Later, her film The Never-Dying Radio Waves provided valuable experience for Chinese cinema in portraying and shaping characters in thrilling-style films. The Sentry Under the Neon Lights, shot in the 1960s, once again won the favor of the masses across the country and the army. After retiring, Wang Ping, at the age of 70, served as the director of the second large-scale musical and dance epic film Song of the Chinese Revolution. In recognition of her contributions to the film industry, Wang Ping received the Special Award at the 6th Golden Rooster Awards of Chinese Cinema. She was also awarded the Second-Class Red Star Meritorious Honor Medal by the People's Liberation Army.
