Features: The "2006 National First Pencil Drawing Invitational Exhibition," organized by the Changsha Municipal Association of Fine Arts, was grandly held at the Changsha Publication Trading Center from September 9 to 16, 2006. This marked the first time that Chinese pencil drawing, as an independent art form, was showcased as a whole in a large-scale art exhibition. It was a comprehensive review of pencil drawing creations in China since the founding of the nation 57 years ago, as well as a systematic summary and promotion of the new Chinese pencil drawing art. On the path to building a harmonious society, the new Chinese pencil drawing carries a heavy responsibility, and we will strive to explore further. The exhibition featured nearly 300 works by 70 artists from 19 provincial and municipal regions, including Beijing, Changsha, Shanghai, Xi'an, Nanjing, Heilongjiang, Guangdong, Hong Kong, and others. To open up new paths for the development of new Chinese pencil drawing and to provide a fresh spiritual feast for enthusiasts, professional pencil artists, students and faculty of art colleges, and friends in the art collection circle, this book selects some of the exhibited works and invited authors' works to delight lovers of pencil drawing, professional pencil artists, students and teachers of art majors, and friends in the art collection field.
