Patient's question:
My baby has been feeling unwell recently. I took them to the hospital for a check-up, and they found physiological pulmonary hypertension in newborns. Is this condition serious?Doctor's answer:
Newborn pulmonary hypertension can often lead to blood clots in the lungs, which may cause difficulty breathing or hypoxia, affecting the child's growth and development. A decrease in pulmonary artery pressure is usually more common pathologically, as newborns may have other congenital growth and development abnormalities or heart diseases. Of course, this condition requires medication to stabilize, and active and thorough echocardiogram examinations are also necessary to understand if there are other congenital heart diseases or vascular abnormalities related to growth and development, in order to formulate the next treatment plan. Pulmonary hypertension is, of course, a serious disease.
