Features: Since its publication and release in 1999, the China Hospital Manager's Handbook (1st Edition) has made certain contributions to hospital management in China and has been widely welcomed by the healthcare industry. In September 2005, the editor-in-chief's unit, the Affiliated Hospital of Jining Medical University, negotiated the revision of the book with People's Medical Publishing House and reported to relevant leaders of the Ministry of Health and the China Hospital Association. On December 15, 2005, a writing conference for the China Hospital Manager's Handbook (2nd Edition) was held in Beijing, attended by over 30 hospital managers, experts, and scholars from various parts of the country. The conference studied the revision outline and assigned writing tasks. The writing team consisted of professionals from various levels and types of hospitals and healthcare administrative departments, who possess both medical backgrounds and deep expertise in healthcare management. Many are graduate supervisors, and foreign healthcare management experts and professors also participated in the writing and academic guidance, ensuring the successful completion of the revision.
The 2nd Edition has been reorganized structurally. In addition to retaining some content from the 1st Edition, it has added new chapters such as The Role of Hospital Managers, Hospital Staff Training, Payment Methods for Hospital Expenses, Hospitals and Communities, Hospital Project Planning, Hospital Project Evaluation, Hospital Foreign Affairs Management, Hospital Marketing, Measuring Patient Satisfaction, Patient Safety, Hospital Crisis Management, and Evidence-Based Medicine. It also includes many new management terms and concepts, as well as policies and regulations newly released since the 1st Edition was published, all closely related to hospital management.
Key revisions and improvements have been made to the content on quality management, information management, hospital architecture, human resources management, financial management, and medical safety from the 1st Edition. The revised content is more practical, serving as both a reference tool and a textbook. The target audience has also broadened beyond hospital managers, including mid-to-high-level administrators from various types of healthcare institutions, healthcare administrative personnel, teaching and research staff from relevant academic institutions, undergraduate and graduate students in management, as well as participants in various management training programs.
