Features: Sketch training is one of the important ways to deepen our understanding of objective things. It enables us to go beyond the superficial impression of objective things and delve into the study of their internal structure and essence. Sketch training not only involves learning how to depict the form relationships of objective objects but also requires learning how to enhance our perception, judgment, and understanding of objective objects, as well as our aesthetic level through representation. For beginners, it requires a longer practical process. Only through repeated experience and summarization can one grasp the true meaning of sketching as a form of painting art.
Literally speaking, sketching refers to depicting objects in monochrome, but its substantive is richer and broader. It presents the various patterns of objects within the visual range through certain means. In sketch training, the study of observation methods, structural combinations, compositional rules, perspective phenomena, layering perception, and expressive forms should proceed step by step, allowing for continuous renewal of understanding. Therefore, throughout the learning process, on the premise of mastering the basic elements of sketching, one should be adept at appreciating the various changes of objects, allowing them to express the true artistic sense through lines that are thick and thin, coarse and fine, and rigid and soft.
The expressive forms of sketching include: pen sketching, charcoal sketching, pencil sketching, ink brush sketching, etc. Among these, pencil sketching and charcoal sketching are the most common. This is because they are simple to use, highly expressive, and easy to master, making them undoubtedly suitable for beginners.
