Features: This book starts with the most familiar and widely used network applications, which are high-level application programs and protocols, and gradually unravels the process of data transmission over the network, enabling readers to understand and master the entire process. The book is divided into 13 chapters: Chapter 1 introduces the origin, development, and future trends of computer networks; Chapter 2 primarily covers the basic knowledge of data communication related to networks; Chapter 3 explains the principles of network layering and common network layering models; Chapters 4 to 8 introduce the corresponding principles, protocols, and implementations of the application layer, transport layer, network layer, data link layer, and physical layer based on the OSI layered model from top to bottom; Chapter 9 discusses the ATM network technology model, its characteristics, and local area network simulation technology; Chapter 10 covers the basic knowledge of IPv6 and the transition from IPv6 to IPv4; Chapter 12 introduces network security knowledge such as data encryption and firewalls; Chapter 13 discusses common network fault diagnosis, analysis, and troubleshooting, as well as the setup and configuration of common network servers. This textbook can serve as a teaching material for undergraduate computer science majors, or as a reference for non-computer science students or graduate students seeking further in-depth study of computer networks. It also provides valuable insights for network engineering professionals and researchers in computer networks.
