What's wrong with red spots appearing on your palm?

Patient's question:

I used to have jaundice hepatitis, but it has now been cured. After it was cured, my palms still occasionally appear with a few red spots. What is the reason for the red spots on my palms?

Doctor's answer:

Because you have a history of jaundice hepatitis, I think the red spots on your palms could be palmar erythema. It reappears after acute or chronic hepatitis because abnormal liver function weakens the ability to inactivate estrogen, causing red spots to reappear on the thenar and hypothenar eminences of the palms. Generally, the reappearance of palmar erythema is a sign of severe liver damage. It is recommended to retest liver function and additional hepatitis markers, and then choose the appropriate treatment method.
Additionally, the reasons for bad breath you mentioned can include oral hygiene factors, dietary factors, gastrointestinal factors, and various other conditions, and may not necessarily be related to hepatitis. There are several treatment methods for hepatitis, but since the symptoms of patients differ, the treatment methods used also vary. Therefore, it is recommended that patients seek early diagnosis and treatment upon noticing symptoms.
