Features: The Neolithic ancient city site located in Chengtou, Li County, Hunan Province, has been excavated for over a decade, uncovering more than 3,500 pieces of pottery, nearly 1,000 types of stone tools, as well as numerous jade, bone, horn, and hemp textiles, as well as bamboo wares. Additionally, crops such as rice, millet, and melons, along with seeds of dozens of plant species, were unearthed. These findings hold significant historical and cultural value. The abundant archaeological results have provided extremely valuable materials for the study of the origin and development of ancient Chinese cities and civilization, the origin and development of rice agriculture, the origin and development of primitive religion, and the changes in ancient climate and ecological environment. Therefore, it was ranked as one of the "Top 100 Archaeological Discoveries of the 20th Century in China" in 2001.
