What should I do if the baby gets dehydrated after taking the following medication?

Patient's question:

Yesterday, my six-month-old son had a fever. At night, his temperature reached 38.9 degrees Celsius. We rushed to the hospital, and the doctor said it was caused by a virus. The doctor prescribed azithromycin granules for oral suspension and five tablets of Baicao Pills. Following the doctor's advice, I gave my son these medications only twice—one last night and once this morning. This morning, the child had diarrhea with dehydration! He had five episodes of watery diarrhea throughout the morning. Should he continue taking these medications? Also, after taking the medicine, the child has been sleeping more during his afternoon nap. Could these medications be causing him to sleep more during his afternoon nap?

Doctor's answer:

The two medications your baby is taking may both cause nausea and vomiting to reappear. If the nausea and vomiting are severe, it may be considered to stop the medication while also taking anti-diarrheal medication for treatment.
The anti-diarrheal medication can be either probiotics or smectite. These two medications should be taken separately.
The erythromycin oral suspension may cause mild anorexia.
If the nausea and vomiting are severe, stop taking these two medications and take the smectite I mentioned for anti-diarrheal treatment.
