Author: Wu Longtao
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2006-12-01
Features: By 2001, with the rapid development of information technology, the term "Computer File" could no longer encompass all electronic resources. Chapter 9, "Computer Files," had to be renamed "Electronic Resources" and underwent significant revisions, supplemented with a large number of examples. The development of electronic resources also influenced the term "Serials." Many electronic resources, especially those online, are continuous in nature. For this reason, when AACR2 was revised in 2002, Chapter 12, "Serials," was renamed "Continuing Resources," and correspondingly, many examples of updated loose-leafs (up-dating looseleafs) and updated websites (updating website) were added, collectively referred to as "Integrated Resources." Admittedly, the 2002 revision of AACR2 made a series of major changes, but revisions cannot stop here. It is believed that with the future development of publications, cataloging rules will inevitably face new contradictions, and AACR2 will undergo further modifications. As cataloging professionals, we should wait with bated breath.
