Patient's question:
Not feeling well, not in the best spirits. What are the symptoms of dehydration in babies?Doctor's answer:
When a baby loses fluids, they will exhibit symptoms such as decreased urine output, with the degree of urine volume increase being proportional to the severity of dehydration. The baby may also show poor skin elasticity, dry lips and oral mucosa, sunken eyes, and an open fontanelle (in babies with an open fontanelle, the fontanelle may appear concave) along with symptoms like thirst. Mild dehydration can be treated with oral rehydration salts. If the baby cries without tears, has cold hands and feet, or appears restless, these symptoms indicate severe dehydration, and medical attention should be sought immediately.
