How to distinguish angina pectoris from myocardial infarction

Patient's question:

Today I went to the hospital for a thorough check-up. The doctor said I have coronary heart disease. She briefly explained the symptoms of coronary heart disease to me. I want to understand in detail the difference between angina pectoris and myocardial infarction?

Doctor's answer:

Coronary heart disease can lead to angina pectoris and myocardial infarction. Repeated episodes of angina pectoris may be triggered during periods of overexertion or emotional excitement. Repeated pain in the anterior chest area can usually be relieved after taking nitroglycerin orally and resting in bed. The duration of chest pain caused by angina pectoris is generally no more than 15 minutes. The chest pain caused by myocardial infarction can be less than 15 minutes or even longer. The chest pain caused by cardiac blockage is relatively severe, and symptoms cannot be relieved even with nitroglycerin.
