The Genealogy of Chinese Fiction and the Reconstruction of History

Author: Fu Lijun

Publish Date: 2006-12-01
Features: The idea behind this book is to provide readers with a concise guide to Chinese fiction. After reading this book, if readers gain a preliminary understanding of the genealogy of Chinese fiction, the historical development and evolution of Chinese fiction, and the noteworthy writers and works in the history of Chinese fiction, the author's intention in writing this book will be fulfilled. The author has been engaged in teaching related to Chinese fiction for many years, having taught both ancient fiction and modern fiction courses. However, the historical span of Chinese fiction is vast, and it covers a wide range. Writing a comprehensive historical work that spans ancient and modern Chinese fiction with personal efforts still feels quite challenging. Fortunately, the study of Chinese fiction has been a popular academic field since the 1980s, with academic achievements emerging rapidly and continuously, providing abundant reference materials and a solid academic foundation for the writing of this book. Although this book constructs a framework for the comprehensive history of Chinese fiction based on the four traditional genres of Chinese fiction, it does not attempt to describe the uninterrupted development of each genre in each historical period.
